Job Summary

Purpose of the Position: The Development Director is a Williamson County, Tennessee resident preferred. Because DoorStep Project serves families exclusively within Williamson County, this role focuses on local relationships. We strongly prefer a Williamson County resident who is already connected to and invested in our community to help build trust with our current and future donors and partners. who manages grant writing, marketing, communications, and events for the DoorStep Project, Inc. This person promotes the message and brand of the organization across all segments and channels in line with our values, to fulfill our mission and vision of safe housing for survivors of domestic violence. The position works with the Board to cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with donors and potential donors.

Job Responsibilities

Manage all organizational grant writing for donation specific funders

 

  • Execute all grant writing and grant reporting in a professional and timely manner
  • Develop and manage the grants calendar to stay on schedule.
  • Spearhead research for additional grant funders and help support any government grant application processes

 

Coordination and execution of marketing elements of all key initiatives, fundraiser events, and awareness campaigns

 

  • Manage project flow and timelines to hit deadlines for all marketing and communications activities, fundraising events, and serve as project lead for marketing plans including mass emails, mailings, event collateral, website, and fundraising campaigns
  • Manage relationships with outside agencies including, but not limited to, contractors, videographers, public relations personnel, graphic design, media, printing, etc. towards fulfillment of all marketing and engagement needs
  • Help deliver maximum revenue and ROI

 

Help execute and improve copy, design, social media strategies, email marketing, website, blog, all forms of search and other digital platforms to maximize awareness of Door Step Project, Inc. brand, services, and funding needs

 

  • Maintain effective systems and archives for all marketing assets, including print communications, digital communications, photography, and video assets
  • Conceive, write, and improve copy for promoting marketing and tactics via social media, while helping ensure messaging consistency across channels to reflect the Door Step Project, Inc. brand, tone, and voice
  • Produce, create, and edit social media videos and images
  • Strategically leverage the strengths of each social media platform (content, timing, audience) to promote healthy audience expansion and growth for each platform

Qualifications

Critical Qualities

  • A passion for our mission to offer high quality transitional housing services to domestic violence survivors
  • Understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and the confidential nature of our work
  • Familiarity with Williamson County, Tennessee and its donor and potential donor base
  • Creativity, can create high quality content using WordPress, Canva or other Photoshop type platforms for social media/web/print
  • Can be flexible and prioritize responsibilities

 

Skills, Education, Experience

  • College degree, or equivalent experience
  • Grant-writing experience, non-profit experience preferred
  • Strong copy-writing skills
  • Experience and ease with Windows systems and software
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization, communication, and presentation skills
  • “Can do” attitude with ability to research and pursue solutions independently when presented with a challenge
  • Attention to detail
  • Diligence
  • Marketing and communications experience preferred, with proficiency in WordPress and social media platforms
