Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Fleet Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, and operation of our company’s fleet (approx. 150 items in the fleet). The ideal candidate will ensure vehicle safety, compliance, and efficiency while minimizing costs and maximizing fleet performance.

Key Responsibilities of a Fleet Manager:

  • Oversee the acquisition, onboarding, maintenance, and disposal of company vehicles and equipment to ensure all meet legal, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and implement fleet policies and procedures that will decrease equipment downtime and increase operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Monitor and report on fleet costs and implement policies for reduction of cost through the use of fleet software, GPS, Cap X, and Asset Management Docs.
  • Manage the schedule and coordination for vehicle/equipment maintenance, inspections, and repairs. This will include direct supervision of fleet mechanics, training as needed, and participation in servicing vehicles and equipment as needed to keep them operational.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.

Requirements & Qualifications of a Fleet Manager:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Transportation Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in fleet management, transportation, or logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance, vehicle regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Valid driver’s license: CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus.

Preferred Skills of a Fleet Manager:

  • Experience managing budgets and cost control.
  • Knowledge of GPS tracking and telematics systems.
  • Familiarity with environmental sustainability practices in fleet management.
