Position Summary

The CPS Energy Internship Program is designed to meet the industry’s rapidly changing workforce needs by providing local San Antonio high school students with public utility career experience. Through the internship program students are paired with a mentor to acquire meaningful hands-on experience that expands their understanding of how the industry works and exposes them to essential skills they must acquire or develop to be successful. The internship is not only meant for the intern to learn how to do things, but to also understand the rationale behind the strategies that are being used.

The Weatherization Program is an internship designed to provide high school juniors and seniors who are interested in potentially pursuing a career in Energy Efficiency with an opportunity to obtain a fundamental knowledge of the physical, academic, and practical skills required for a successful career. Interns are assigned to an experienced Weatherization Auditor with technical duties in Energy Efficiency, including calibration of CO test equipment, operation of blower door and test equipment, health and safety checks at customer’s homes, and evaluation of homes for the Casa Verde program. All team members will serve an Instructor, Safety Enforcer, Role Model, and Mentor, providing an optimal hands-on and safe learning experience.
