Summary

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the school. This role includes daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, and common areas, as well as ensuring that supplies are stocked and facilities are kept in good working order. The Janitor plays an important part in supporting the health and safety of children, staff, and families by following proper cleaning procedures and maintaining a welcoming environment. This position requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of the school team.

Duties

  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas daily.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors and carpets.
  • Empty and clean trash cans and recycling bins throughout the facility.
  • Disinfect toys, furniture, and frequently touched surfaces to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Restock paper products, soap, and other supplies in restrooms and classrooms.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and glass doors as needed.
  • Assist with setting up and cleaning up for school events or activities.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or reporting repairs needed.
  • Ensure cleaning supplies and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures in compliance with childcare licensing standards.
  • Report any safety hazards, damages, or maintenance needs to the school administration.
  • Support staff by maintaining an orderly and welcoming school environment.
