Job Description

Parts Manager

A Parts Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire parts department of a business, managing inventory levels, ordering new parts, supervising staff, ensuring timely customer service, and maximizing sales of replacement parts, often within the automotive industry where they coordinate with the service department to provide necessary repair parts for vehicles. 

Key responsibilities of a Parts Manager:

  • Inventory Management:

Accurately monitor stock levels, forecast parts needs, and place orders to maintain optimal inventory. 

  • Customer Service:

Interact directly with customers, providing information on parts availability, pricing, and assisting with part selection. 

Must have willingness to visit customer sites, ensuring satisfaction with all aspects of the customer experience.

  • Staff Supervision:

Lead and manage a team of parts specialists, assigning tasks, providing training, and evaluating performance. 

  • Sales and Profitability:

Develop strategies to increase parts sales, manage pricing, and achieve departmental profit goals. 

  • Order Processing:

Oversee the entire parts ordering process, including receiving, inspecting, and storing new inventory. 

  • Returns Management:

Handle parts returns, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to return policies. 

  • Data Analysis:

Analyze sales reports and inventory data to identify trends and make informed decisions. 

  • Technical Expertise:

Possess a strong understanding of parts systems, automotive components, and industry standards.
