NOW HIRING: PATENT ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY - HYBRID | PITTSBURGH, PA
A leading firm is actively seeking a mid- to senior-level Intellectual Property Associate Attorney with a computer science or electrical engineering background to join their high-performing IP team. What You'll Do
- Interview inventors and draft high-quality U.S. and international patent applications
- Manage all stages of patent prosecution, including U.S. and foreign filings and ex parte appeals
- Conduct validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate analyses; prepare detailed opinion letters
- Provide counsel on patent, trademark, copyright, and basic licensing matters
- Gain hands-on opportunities in licensing and IP litigation
- Collaborate closely with partners, associates, inventors, and technical experts
- Stay updated on IP law developments and contribute to internal knowledge initiatives
- Support patent portfolio strategies, invention harvesting, and client counseling
- Review technical disclosures and coordinate with foreign associates
- Maintain meticulous documentation, workflows, and deadline compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in EE, CS, ME, ChemE, Biotechnology, or a related technical field
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO)
- Prior patent drafting and prosecution experience (law firm or in-house) strongly preferred
- Strong technical writing, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple matters, and meet strict deadlines
- Technical background in computer circuits, multiprocessor design, or telecommunications is highly desired
