Job Description
Are you a safety‑driven, mechanically skilled operator who takes pride in precision, reliability and maintaining high operational standards? As an Operator B , you will play a critical role in supporting plant operations by ensuring safe and compliant handling of materials, equipment and processes.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on environment, follows procedures with discipline and brings strong awareness to safety and quality. You’ll help keep operations running smoothly, troubleshoot issues and support both routine and critical activities that ensure the safe and efficient production of our products.

What You’ll Do:
Core Operations & Process Control
✅ Load and unload trucks and railcars in compliance with Tessenderlo Kerley, OSHA, EPA, DOT, HM‑126 and BOE regulations.
✅ Monitor, read and record local instrumentation, gauges and meters to ensure product quality and quantity.
✅ Collect and analyze product samples to ensure compliance with company specifications.
✅ Make operational adjustments and troubleshoot irregularities to maintain safe and efficient conditions.
✅ Operate manual valves, pumps, compressors and related equipment.
✅ Monitor remote instrumentation and DCS displays for KBS production (KTS/K‑Row 23) and plant utilities.
Safety & Compliance
✅ Follow HAZWOPER standards for hazardous waste containment, cleanup, packaging, and labeling.
✅ Demonstrate strong safety awareness - identify hazards, use PPE, and stop work when unsafe conditions exist.
✅ Participate in Cal/VPP and all plant safety programs including meetings, inspections, and hazard reporting.
✅ Support emergency response activities and drills.
✅ Perform lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and other safety procedures as required.
Documentation & Reporting
✅ Complete bills of lading and all load/unload paperwork accurately.
✅ Maintain logs for trucks, railcars, outage tables, inspections, and equipment operation.
✅ Conduct monthly vessel and equipment inspections and ensure reporting is completed.
Support & Collaboration
✅ Assist with maintenance, turnarounds, shutdowns, pipe flushing, blinding, and startup operations.
✅ Perform PSSR, JHA, and MOC‑related activities after turnarounds.
✅ Support new facility startup tasks: P&ID walk‑downs, red‑lining drawings, and equipment prep.
✅ Coach and train Operator C and Operator D team members.
✅ Monitor contractors and conduct CON5 safety audits.
✅ Initiate work orders for maintenance needs.
✅ Maintain plant areas in clean, organized condition.
Other Responsibilities
✅ Operate plant vehicles (golf cart, fork truck, boom‑lift, trackmobile).
✅ Perform minor mechanical repairs (valves, gauges, couplings, etc.).
✅ Work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and be available for 24/7 callout.
✅ Conduct yourself professionally with all internal and external customers.
What You’ll Bring
✔ HS diploma or GED required.
✔ HAZWOPER Technician-level certification required.
✔ Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, including pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, valves and piping systems.
✔ Ability to read and follow operating procedures.
✔ Basic chemistry, math and analytical skills.
✔ Good written and verbal communication skills.
✔ Computer literacy and proficiency with basic digital tools.
✔ Ability to obtain and pass state boiler operator certification (if applicable).
✔ Ability to operate fork trucks, boom lifts, UTVs and scissor lifts.
✔ Must successfully pass written and practical testing throughout the training and probationary process.
Physical Requirements
✔ Ability to lift 50 pounds and occasionally exert up to 100 pounds using equipment (e.g., drum dolly, winch).
✔ Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work at elevations over 150 feet, and safely use fall protection.
✔ Ability to work in confined spaces.
✔ Ability to wear all required PPE, including full‑face respirators and SCBA (fit‑testing required).
✔ Ability to work outdoors and indoors in extreme temperatures, humidity and high‑noise environments.
