Akkodis is seeking a Mainframe Developer for a Contract with a client in Omaha, NE(Remote). The ideal candidate with deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS, capable of driving critical system improvements and modernization efforts.
Rate Range: $47/hour to $49/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Mainframe Developer job responsibilities include:
Develop and enhance mainframe applications by coding system‑improvement stories using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.
Perform modernization and de‑commissioning activities for legacy mainframe systems to support long‑term technology transformation.
Provide daily production support, including issue resolution, incident management, and performance troubleshooting.
Conduct batch monitoring and ensure timely execution of scheduled jobs, addressing failures proactively.
Deliver Firecall/emergency support to resolve critical system issues within strict SLAs.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to analyze requirements, validate technical solutions, and ensure smooth system operations.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
Minimum 10+ years of hands‑on experience in mainframe application development and support.
Strong proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and mainframe debugging tools such as Topaz.
Proven experience in system modernization, de‑commissioning activities, batch monitoring, and production support in enterprise‑scale environments.
